Our self-paced programs do not require you to interact with professors and other students. Can I complete the terms early or late?


Students have the flexibility to complete a term (6 months) early or late. If a student wishes to complete his or her term before or after the end of the term, he or she may apply for advancement or extension. Advancement means moving into the next term before the expiry of its maturity date and extension means extending the current term beyond the maturity date. Students can request advancement or extension up to 2 months. In other words, in case of progress, a deadline will be 4 months and in case of extension, a deadline will be 8 months. Applications for advancement or extension must be submitted in writing through the Student Dashboard. Approval for advancement or extension may take up to 2 weeks.


Can I complete my program early?


The amount of time a student can complete the program is determined by the number of terms (6 months) in the program. In other words, if a program has a total of 4 terms, a student can only complete his program in close to two years.


How much time do I need to dedicate to my studies?


Students enrolled in certificate courses are free to study at their own pace. Students enrolled in Associate's and Bachelor's degrees must devote 8 hours per week. Students enrolled in a master's degree must devote 12 hours per week.

What are Associate and Master Degrees?


Associate's and master's degrees are higher education programs. Students enrolled in Associate and Master's programs are required to take exams, write projects, and complete all assignments. Students intending to enroll in the Associate Program must submit proof of high school completion or another postsecondary program. Students intending to enroll in a master's program must submit proof of completion of a higher education degree.


How does a bachelor's degree work?


All bachelor programs are double majors. You can choose two concentrations, if one concentration is related to ministry or theology. For example, you can enroll in a degree of ministry and choose another concentration in theology, technology, business, counseling, or health care. Business related courses will be offered in Fall 2022 and Spring 2022. Beginning in fall 2021, courses in counseling and health care will begin. Upon completion of 120 credit hours, you can be awarded a bachelor's degree in ministry and theology, technology, business, counseling, or health care.


What is a Certificate Course?


Certificate Courses in Ministry, Biblical Studies, and Greek New Testament are affordable Bible-based non-degree programs for those who want to work as a layperson, teach Sunday school, lead small groups, or gain a deeper understanding of the Bible. Students in the certificate course are not required to have a high school diploma and are free to take the English entrance exam.


Do I have to be fluent in English?


Students applying to enroll in the certificate course are not required to be fluent in English. Students who wish to enroll in an associate degree must have an intermediate knowledge of the English language. Students who wish to enroll in a master's degree must have advanced knowledge of the English language. For non-native speakers, Lucent offers a free online test of Lucent English Comprehension (TEC) to determine whether a student has the necessary knowledge of the English language to enroll in their desired program.


What is TEC?


The Test of English Comprehension (TEC) was developed to assess the level of English language comprehension for non-native speakers. After an associate or master's program candidate completes the registration form, he or she receives an email with information on how to access TEC. TEC is free. The test has a total of 100 multiple-choice questions. The candidate has 90 minutes to complete the exam.


How many marks do I need in TEC?


A passing grade for the English Comprehension (TEC) test is 60 points for associate and bachelor's degrees and 70 points for master's degrees. The maximum score a candidate can achieve is 100 marks. If the student does not achieve the required score in the first test registration, he or she can retake the test several times at no cost.


What documents do I need to enroll?


Students must upload images of two government-issued identification documents with their photograph and proof of residency documents (bills, bank statements or official documents containing their address) on their dashboard. Students enrolled in certificate courses do not need to upload academic documentation, only two government-issued identification documents with her photo and a proof of residency document. Can I choose the number of courses I take?

Can I take multiple courses at the same time?


In most cases, students can take multiple courses simultaneously in a single term. However, there are courses offered in the same term which are sequential. Courses that are sequential are blocked and marked with a lock icon in the student dashboard and can only be taken after the previous introductory course has been completed.


Do I need to take courses in a specific order?


Students are free to take any course in their current term available on their dashboard in the order they want, or even take multiple courses at once. Exceptions are courses that require Courses that require prior knowledge, Level 1 must be completed before students can begin taking Level 2.


When will I receive my diploma or certificate?


Students who have completed all program requirements and paid all fees will receive a certificate or diploma upon completion of the program. How will I receive my diploma or certificate if I finish early or late?

How does student support work?

What are passing grades?

It is usually based on the number of hours a student is exposed to a course during a week during the academic session. The courses you take at Lucent are worth three credit hours each.


How should I write my paper?


Lucent University students are not required to write book reviews, compositions, or research papers. All written work is based on projects. For most courses, you will write a project on how to apply what you have learned. To make things easier, we provide a template like questionnaire with every project.


How much does my program cost?


The cost of the program varies according to the purchasing power of the country where the student lives. Lucent University uses the World Bank's Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) to determine the cost of its programs. How do I teach?


American institutions typically charge tuition based on semesters. Lucent University students have the flexibility to pay tuition on a monthly basis. Certificate programs, associate and master's degrees in the last 24 months, so students pay 24 installments. The Master of Divinity degree lasts 36 months, so students pay in 36 installments. A bachelor's degree lasts 48 months, so students pay in 48 installments. The first installment is payable after the completion of the student registration process.


What is the form of payment?

Can I pause my studies?


You can pause your studies and return at your earliest convenience. You do not need to pay your tuition during your study break time. Students with scholarships may lose their benefit if they stop their studies.


How do I remove a program?


If a student decides to withdraw from a program, go to the contact page . It may take 30 days to cancel the results. Penalties or fees will apply if the student does not make outstanding payments. A partial refund will not be given if the student has paid tuition for the month in which the cancellation was requested.

How does a graduation ceremony work?


The graduation ceremony takes place at your local church. Lucent University administrative staff will contact you three months prior to the completion of your program to inform you of necessary arrangements and to request contact information for your pastor or church leader.
